Making CDH overnight – the easy way

Yet another method of making CDH, which stands for ‘Chlorine Dioxide Holding’ solution. This is my favourite method and the one I personally use all the time. It is easy, convenient, and lasts in the fridge for a long time, if the bottle has a good and secure cup.

I call it – 5 | 5 | 100 – It is simple to remember.

You will need:

  • 100ml dark glass bottle & measuring spoon of 5ml
  • 5ml of Sodium Chlorite 28%
  • 5ml of HCL 4 -5 %
  • 90ml of distilled water

How to make it:

  • Mix 5ml of Sodium Chlorite 28% and 5ml of HCL 4 -5 % in a dry glass container I use dark glass bottle with secure cap.
  • Wait for about a minute for the Chlorine Dioxide to form, or until the clear mixed liquid turns into dark yellow.
  • Add the 90ml distilled water and cap the bottle securely.
  • Leave in room temperature for 24hr  then store in the fridge.

This should produce Chlorine Dioxide solution CDH of approx 3000ppm

1ml of CDH = 3 activated drops.

Note: No matter how good and secure the cup you use is, over time some ClOGas will escape the bottle, not to mention opening the bottle every time it is being used. This means your CDH will not stay the strength of 3000ppm which is why it is alway a good idea to have some ClO2 testing strips.
